Ready is a 2011 Indian action romantic comedy film directed by Anees Bazmee,[5] starring Salman Khan and Asin in the lead roles.[6][7][8] It also features Paresh Rawal, Arya Babbar and Mahesh Manjrekar in supporting roles,[9] while Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Kangana Ranaut, Zarine Khan and Arbaaz Khan make cameo appearances. It is a remake of the 2008 Telugu film, Ready directed by Sreenu Vaitla starring Ram and Genelia.[10] The songs are composed by Pritam, while the background score is composed by Sandeep Shirodkar. The first look was unveiled on 5 April 2011, while the theatrical trailer was released on 15 April 2011.[11] The film was released on 3 June 2011.[2] Upon release, Ready became the second highest opening-day grosser, as well as the second highest weekend grossing Bollywood film, after Dabangg, another Salman Khan-starrer.[12] It holds the record for being second highest grossing Bollywood film of 2011.

Plot
Ready starts with ready-witted Prem (Salman Khan) helping his childhood friend Khushi (Zarine Khan) to elope with Raju (Ajay Devgn). Khushi's intended bridegroom Gaurav (Arbaaz Khan) reveals that he also has a girlfriend, Kiran (Kangana Ranaut), whom he wants to marry. The elopement angers Khushi's father, Mr. Pathak (Mithilesh Chaturvedi) and Prem's family, the Kapoors. Prem manages to pacify his family members.

The Kapoors decide to get Prem engaged to Pooja. Prem is sent to receive Pooja at the airport; however, he deliberately goes to the wrong terminal to avoid meeting her. A young woman named Sanjana (Asin), who has just run away from her own wedding, overhears Prem telling his uncle about ditching Pooja. Since nobody from Prem's family has ever seen Pooja, Sanjana pretends to be Prem's intended fiancée. Sanjana, posing as Pooja, goes to stay with the Kapoors and wins the hearts of the entire family, except Prem, who gets irritated with her.

Meanwhile, Sanjana's maternal uncles, Amar Choudhary (Akhilendra Mishra) and Suraj Choudhary (Sharat Saxena), who are rivals, try to search for her. Each uncle wants Sanjana to marry his respective brother-in-law to inherit her wealth. Sanjana and Prem escape from Suraj Chaudhary's goons by taking a lift in the car of Mr. Lehri (Sudesh Lehri). Prem outwits the goons and sends Suraj's son Aryan into a coma while escaping. Suraj Choudhary takes the help of Mr. Lehri to get to know who ran away with Sanjana.

By then, Prem finds out Sanjana's true identity, and she tells him about her uncles trying to get her married. Prem and Sanjana fall in love and decide to marry. However, her uncle Suraj Chaudhary takes her away. Then the Kapoors come to know about her true identity; they still want her as Prem's wife. Prem assures Sanjana that she should stay with her uncle, and he will find a way to marry her as well as reunite her whole family.

Prem pretends to be the nephew of CA Balidaan Bhardwaaj a.k.a. Bali (Paresh Rawal), a chartered accountant who serves Sanjana's uncles. Prem convinces Suraj and Amar Chaudhary not to get either of their brothers-in-law married to Sanjana. Instead, he suggests the daughters of America's billionaires K.K. and B.K. Modi as suitable brides for the two brothers-in-law. What the Choudharies do not know is that K.K. and B.K. Modi are actually Prem's dad and uncle in disguise. Prem gets the rest of his family to play characters to trick Sanjana's family into letting her marry him. He also manages to change the Chaudhary family's negative attitudes.

But on the wedding day, Aryan recovers from his coma, and reveals the truth about Prem. A physical fight follows, in which Prem gets the upper hand of Sanjana's uncles and their men. He then explains to Amar and Suraj how Sanjana's late mother wanted them to unite and get their niece married. The Chaudharies realise their mistake and are deeply apologetic for their behaviour. In the end, Prem and Sanjana get married and their wedding picture is taken with the Kapoors and Chaudharies, a.k.a. the 'Chapoors'. In the end, a spinoff is placed for a sequel in the future as the third brother of the Chauderies returns.

Production
The film was originally to be shot in Mauritius.[14] However, on the request of Salman Khan, the location was changed to Sri Lanka.[14] Khan described his decision to choose Sri Lanka as its proximity to India and its suitable landscape for Indian productions.[13]

Shooting started on 20 June 2010 in Colombo.[15][16] The first schedule of shooting lasted for over 27 days at locations in Colombo and the neighbouring Bentota,[16] during which approximately 40% of the filming was completed.[17]

The second schedule of shooting was slated to start in October 2010 but was delayed due to eye problems faced by Salman Khan. The lead actor requested Anees Bazmee to delay the shoot until his condition improved.[18] Shooting started again in Mumbai from 3 November 2010.[19] Portions of Ready were shot at Film City in Mumbai and Cherish Studios at Madh Island in the north of Mumbai.[20] During filming, media reports emerged that Asin had shot an intimate scene,[21] though the reports were later denied by the actress.[22]

The final schedule of shooting started in February 2011 in Bangkok.[23] According to reports, actors Ajay Devgan, Sanjay Dutt and Kangana Ranaut, who were shooting in Bangkok for David Dhawan's film, Rascals were called by Salman Khan to become part of the movie. The trio shot for a day doing cameo appearances.[24] Arbaaz Khan and Zarine Khan were also confirmed to have shot for small cameos in the film.[25] The final schedule of shooting was completed in March 2011.[26] Two songs from Ready, "Character Dheela" and "Dhinka Chika", which were filmed in Bangkok were re-shot in Mumbai's Film City studios. According to producer Bhushan Kumar, "the whole [production] team felt that the visuals didn't suit the song."[27] The song "Character Dheela", which features Salman Khan and Zarine Khan (in a cameo appearance) is a tribute to veteran actors Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar and Dharmendra.[28]

Release
Ready’s release date was first set as 27 May[9][29] but was later pushed back to 3 June.[2] Advance bookings were opened on 29 May (five days before release) in several multiplexes.[30] It became the first Indian film to release on at least 1000 UFO digital prints and almost 1900 prints in all.[31] The advance at single screens matched that of Dabangg and even bettered it at places.[32] The world premiére took place at Grand Cineplex, Dubai on 1 June 2011.[33]

Critical response
The film received mixed reviews from critics. Nikhat Kazmi of the Times of India gave it three stars out of five saying, "The film is an unabashed ode to Salman Khan, the entertainer rather than the actor. And yes, it works at that level."[34] Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama awarded the movie four out of five saying, "On the whole, Ready is strictly for the masses and for those who relish typically formulaic masala entertainers. The film prides itself with super music ['Character Dheela' and 'Dhinka Chika'], gags and gimmicks aplenty and of course, Salman Khan, the beloved of the masses and the mainstay of this film."[35] Filmfare also awarded four stars out of five, while commenting, "When it comes to a Salman Khan or a Rajnikant film, their performance is not important. It’s the audience performance that counts."[36] Komal Nahta of Koimoi.com gave it a rating of three and a half stars and stated, "Ready will score at the box-office, thanks to a great start, super-hit music, Salman Khan and entertainment in a good dose."[37]

Anupama Chopra of NDTV Movies awarded two stars while commenting, "Thankfully, Ready isn’t in the same soul-sucking category as director Anees Bazmee’s last two movies: Thank You and No Problem. But it still falls very much into his special brand of brain-dead, anything-for-a-laugh comedy."[38] Raja Sen of Rediff.com awarded the film one and a half stars saying, "Ready doesn't even try to make sense and therefore falls flat.....only it's more extortionate than value for money."[39] Sonia Chopra of Sify awarded two and a half stars while commenting, "The film is unabashedly Salman-centric. He’s doing it all: the wise-cracks, gregarious dancing, beating the bad guys, and romancing the girl. All this with his characteristic drawl and swagger."[40] Kunal Guha of Yahoo! Movies gave the movie one star and stated, "...the movie refuses to end, as unnecessary confusions and complications pile up and you wonder if there's enough reel left to clear it all up."[41] Rajeev Masand of CNN-IBN awarded the movie one and a half stars out of five, commenting "'Ready' is strictly for die-hard Salman Khan fans (are there any other kind?) who're willing to forgive the fact that this tasteless, senseless film has no plot to speak of, yet lazily unfolds over two hours and thirty minutes... Salman Khan deserves better than this."[42] Shubhra Gupta from The Indian Express gave the film one star and said "What really kills this film is that its nonsense is neither inventive nor high energy."[43]

Khaleej Times awarded the film three stars commenting, "Bazmi’s script, a shoot off of a Telugu hit, accommodates more characters than Goa during the tourist season. Every character is over-dressed and over-the-top."[44] Mayank Shekhar of Hindustan Times gave two stars stating, "Salman's re-grounded masala (Wanted, Dabanng) is still novel for the time being. He walks into Gaiety to briefly say hi to his audiences... It's a pop-cultural experience all right, and fully worth it."[45] Shubha Shetty-Saha of MiD DAY rated it with two and a half stars saying, "The best thing about the movie, of course is Salman Khan. His fans will not be disappointed and yes, they will get to see him topless in the climax."[46] Shalini Saksena of The Pioneer gave the film six out of ten saying, "Believe it or not but Salman Khan is on a roll. After the success of films like Wanted and Dabangg, he is ready with Ready which has his stamp all over it... Though there is nothing spectacular about the storyline, it manages to make you laugh."[47] Preeti Arora from Rediff gave a score of two out of five and said "Ready isn't a tribute to Salman Khan. It's a vehicle which showcases the 'Best of Salman' one has seen over the last twenty years. It entertains in bits."[48]

Jab Tak Hai Jaan is the soundtrack album, composed by A. R. Rahman, to the 2012 Hindi film of the same name, directed by Yash Chopra that stars Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles. The film is produced by Aditya Chopra under his own banner Yash Raj Films. The album features nine tracks, and was released on 9 October 2012 on the firm's official record label YRF Music.

Development
The soundtrack marks the first ever collaboration of director Yash Chopra with composer A.R. Rahman and lyricist Gulzar. In May 2011, A. R. Rahman was signed to compose the music as well as the background score of the film.[1] The first song of the soundtrack was completed in December 2011.[2] By February 2012, Rahman told in an interview with The Times of India that he had completed three songs for the film.[3] Rahman summarized about the soundtrack album quoting,"It's a combination. They wanted to do my kind of songs at the same time they wanted the old charm and soul of music that Indian audience would love and which I wanted to do for a long time."[4]

"Yashji saw one of my concerts in London, we invited him. He felt that I should give music in his film. It was kind enough of him to call me. It is a great honour for me. I had not worked with him and now my whole thing...meaning career wise is complete. I am very happy to have worked with him. We had great time, it was a great experience. And he (Yash Chopra) seemed happy. I hope people feel the same."

Overview
The Punjabi lyrical song Challa was picturised on the lead character Samar Anand (played by Shahrukh Khan). The song was prominently shot at Trafalgar Square, Canary Wharf, Hungerford Bridge and Golden Jubilee Bridges, set in London. At the promotion of the film he stated, "I love ‘Challa’ – its a Punjabi, Sufi kind of song. Doing it was different for me, to play the guitar in the way its supposed to be strummed." The song also featured Katrina Kaif alongside Khan. The song portrays daily routine life of the character Samar who resides in London.[6] The lead actor specially learnt the guitar chords of the song so as to portray authenticity while strumming it.[7] Released as a single track prior to the music launch, it met overwhelming positive reviews over the internet, especially on YouTube. Several media reports claimed opening notes and guitar strummings of the song to be loosely inspired from Eagle-Eye Cherry's song Save Tonight.[8][9] However, these allegation were shot down by the singer Rabbi Shergill claiming that the two songs that shared acoustic guitar, bass and tempo, nonsensical insinuations had come up.[10]
The song Saans was attributed as ‘The Breathe of Love’ by Khan when it opened up as video promo on the day of music launch. Rahman stated that initially the patch version of the song was composed with dummy lyrics. He added that the song highlights traditional beats but has an edge to it. According to the plot of the film, the song needed tautness that is exemplified by the tensed violins. In the film, Samar helps Meera (played by Katrina Kaif) in reviving her maternal bondings where in she knows more on love through her mother. This makes Meera reciprocate her feelings to Samar, expressed as song Saans. The reprise version of the song is positioned when the characters Meera and Samar converge post 10 years.[11]
Ishq Dance and Ishq Shava both dance oriented numbers were sequentially queued in filming where the former was shot with the leading duo and nearly eighty freestyle dancers in an underground club where as the latter on board a barge on River Thames, London, essentially keeping the Tower Bridge as the backdrop during the night.[12] The music composer stated that instead of trance or dubstep genre, he fused tribal and contemporary with acoustics. The song also involves more of strummed Spanish guitars in its preludes.[13][14]
A solo performance in the film by Meera is song Heer Heer. Initially the song was recorded as patch, to be featured only in the film. However, lyricist Gulzar insisted Rahman to record it as a complete track after adding more lines to the folk poetry. In the film, Meera learns Punjabi and the song through Samar. She performs the song to impress her father and depict that though being in London, her roots are still into her Indian culture. On the counterpart, the song also relates the heartfelt situation between her and Samar. The straight Punjabi lyrical track implicitly refers the folklores of Mirza Sahiban and Heer Ranjha where the lyricist claimed to plank imagery in several lines of the song.[15][16]
Song Jiya Re vociferates character name Akira (played by Anushka Sharma) in the song. Lyricist Gulzar stated that the song was much character oriented which is described so in its lyrics.[17] The song was extensively shot in the landscapes of Ladakh and Kashmir. Akira's further documentary filming journey with Samar begins post this song.[18] Singer Neeti Mohan made her debut as a playback singer through this song in the soundtrack.[19]
Often regarded as the swan song,[20] the title track Jab Tak Hai Jaan marks the union of the lead characters and was planned to be shot with profligate budget in the Swiss Alps. The demise of the director led to its filming cancellation and then the song was placed at the closing credits of the movie.[21]
The poem Jab Tak Hai Jaan written by Aditya Chopra and recited by Shahrukh Khan was featured in the opening credits of the film. Several reports stated, the theatrical trailer that incorporated this song claimed to be reminiscent of the song Apertura of film The Motorcycle Diaries, especially the use of Charango in the music.[22][23][24]

On 27 September 2012, that marked the film director's 80th birthday, Shahrukh Khan paid homage to Chopra in an event pertaining to his film where the song Challa was deciphered. Chopra stated it to be his favorite pick from the album and even recited few lines of it.[25][26] The video promo of the first song of the soundtrack album, Challa sung by Rabbi Shergill in Punjabi language was released on 1 October 2012 garnering over a million views within a day of its release. The first trailer of the film also incorporated instrumental part of the song Challa.[27][28][29] The making of the song Challa song was also released officially on 5 October 2012. Later, it was also made available as a complete track for digital download.A small portion of the song Heer Heer sung in Punjabi by Harshdeep Kaur was leaked on the internet on 7 October 2012.[30] The video promo of second song Saans was launched on 9 October 2012 in an event held at Ball Room, Taj Land Ends, Bandra, Mumbai. The romantic number was launched in presence of Khan and Katrina Kaif web conferencing the event over Skype where Khan attributed the song as The Breathe of Love.Initially, the event was supposed to have the actress but her shooting schedules for Dhoom 3 in Chicago, she made such appearance.[31] The video promo of the song Jiya Re highlighting Anushka Sharma featuring Khan was released on 17 October 2012.[32] The complete soundtrack album was released on 9 October 2012 on YRF Music. The video teaser of Ishq Shava was released on 26 October 2012 and Heer Heer on 6 November 2012.[33]

Anand Vaishnav of Indiatimes praised the album and wrote, "Jab Tak Hai Jaan’s score may not be the game-changer Rahman fans would have expected, but it’s got its heart in the right place. And is a welcome break from all the noise (in the name of experimentation) that one is subjected to on the music-charts."[35] DJ Munks of BizAsia Showbiz gave it 8 out of 10 stars and said, "The album is inventive and does not reflect a typical sound heard in Rahman’s music but has clear signs of ownership of Chopra, clearly indicating he had a major influence on it. The album keeps away for popular commercial music but creates a unique niche for itself with genuine hard work and talent reflecting in the songs."[36] Abid of Glamsham gave the album a 4/5 rating and wrote, "The compositions maintain the class and ingenuity of the maestro Rahman and at the same time reflect the old world traditional charm of the Chopras, incased in some truly superb lyrics by master craftsman, Gulzar."[37] Joginder Tuteja of Bollywood Hungama gave it 3.5 out of 5 stars and stated Jab Tak Jai Jaan turns out to be a mixed bag and while none of the songs is the kind that one turns away from (it can't be imagined that way in any case, given the team involved), there are only a few which make you come back to them.[38] Vipin of Music Aloud noted, "Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Has its ARR-special moments, but for a film touted as Yash Chopra’s 50th year special and his first venture with A R Rahman (along with Gulzar, that too!), the soundtrack is underwhelming.".[39] Koimoi gave it 3.5 out of 5 stars and said, "Music of Jab Tak Hai Jaan leaves the listener with diverse emotions as it appeals on some levels while also leaves some voids. Since it’s an A R Rahman album, experimentation does rule."[40] Devesh Sharma of Filmfare thought that the album was appealing even though it was not vintage Rahman.[41] Siddharth K of Musicperk stated, "A fitting finale for Yash Chopra!".[42] Anand Holla of The Times of India wrote, "Though not as free-spirited as Rockstar, Jab Tak Hai Jaan is engaging; an adorable, even if somewhat syrupy, soundtrack in its own love-struck space."[43] Sukanya Verma of Rediff wrote, "Save for a few inspiring notes, even a die-hard Rahman fan will admit to feeling underwhelmed with what Jab Tak Hai Jaan has to offer."[22] Behindwoods stated, "Rahman has given an album which oozes with passion and would be a treat for the romantics. It’s a nice parting gift for the legendary Yash Chopra who is directing his last film."[44]Also Visit ➴

After the second day of release, the album reached the number one spot on the Top 10 World Albums chart on iTunes, making it the third Indian album to achieve this feat after Enthiran and Rockstar. Notably, all three were composed by A. R. Rahman.[45]
